Health & Safety Advisor –Bowmer & Kirkland North West.
About Bowmer & Kirkland:

which only a select number of high performing contractors achieve. We are currently seeking a health & safety
advisor to join our small team of busy, hard-working and highly motivated health & safety professionals.About the Role:
This role is based out of an office near Manchester Airport, primarily working with our Northwest Regional
Business. The position reports to our Group head office and Board in Derby and is supported by our Group Health
& Safety Department. National travel / nights away will be required, although not frequently.Reporting to Group Health & Safety Director and Department as well as to Regional Directors
Liaison with Quality & Environmental Systems Manager and team, insurance department, HR and Plant / Site
Services teams.To provide support / health, safety, wellbeing & environmental solutions to regional Principal Contractor
construction sites and subsidiary construction related businesses.
High degree of autonomy – so must be reliable and able to work on own initiative.
Support prequalification and bidding / planning process.
Support IT based solutions for snagging, reporting and compliance.
Support Regional Director in managing health safety and wellbeing.
Liaise with QA and CSR coordinators.
Assist in preparation of fire risk assessments, traffic management plans, H & S Plans, Environmental Impact
Assessments, etc.
Carry out accident and incident investigations and follow up action.
Prepare, develop and deliver internal training to company employees.
Carry out site toolbox talks / respirator face-fit testing.
Carry out fixed premises inspections / audits.
Noise surveys, light surveys and assessments.
Assist review of site documentation.
Complete audits and inspections to support accredited management systems.
Produce reports for management meetings, investigations, etc.
Participate in Working Well Together and local safety groups.We believe in sensible safety, focused on solutions, not problems. We work with leading suppliers and industry
groups to implement innovative measures and best practice and ensure we maintain continuous improvement of
our health and safety performance.This is a support role with some auditing – we have several accreditations in our business including OHSAS 18001
(migrating to ISO 45001), ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. Site safety inspections – ‘scored’ site safety inspections are
completed by our independent Safety Consultants who are an integral part of our business.About the Candidate:

background in construction and building is essential.Essential requirements:
Member IOSH or working towards
NEBOSH / NVQ 4 or better
CSCS Health & Safety Manager
Full Driving License
Experience construction, demolition & civil engineering
Experience of environmental / waste issues
Good communication skills
A practical and solutions based approach is a must
Desirable requirements:
FPA Fire Risk Assessor
A61 Appointed Person – Lifting / crane / tower crane and MEWP experience
City & Guilds Trainer
Face fit tester
Scaffold / Safety Net Inspector
Temporary works
Experience of high rise construction.
IEMA membership
Knowledge of environmental legislation / licensing requirements
Experience of a multi-site / multi-discipline organisation
